Dorset is one of the safest counties in the country and our residents continue to have high public confidence in Dorset Police.
Public confidence is measured by the Crime Survey for England and Wales and the latest information for the 12 months to September 2023 puts overall public confidence in Dorset Police at 66 per cent. A total of 47 per cent of those surveyed said the police are doing a good or excellent job in their local area. Some 41 per cent of people say they have witnessed/experienced anti-social behaviour (ASB).
For comparison in England and Wales 67 per cent of people say they have overall confidence in the police, 50 per cent say the police are doing an excellent or good job in their local area and 35 per cent say they have witnessed or experienced ASB.
Communities in Dorset deserve excellent policing and the highest quality of service and despite continued success in reducing crime and securing public confidence the Force is consistently striving to improve.
