Welcome to this introduction to Dorset Police information pack, which I hope will provide you with an understanding of our force, our vision, purpose and priorities and all the good work that is taking place every day to be tough on crime, keep our communities safe and put victims and witnesses first.
Our police officers and staff show courage, teamwork and compassion on a daily basis to respond to calls to service and relentlessly pursue those criminals who cause the most harm.
Dorset has over 770,000 residents and over 25 million day visits are made here every year. Every one of those people deserves fair and effective policing as we strive to make Dorset a safe county for everyone.
Dorset is a wonderful county – a 1,024 square mile mix of country, coast and conurbations.
Our force has a strong family feel and our team of dedicated officers, staff and volunteers all play an important part in delivering policing in our communities.
We are committed to being visible and connected within our communities, providing a high-quality service to victims while also building strong partnerships with stakeholders to prevent crime.
We expect only the highest standards of behaviour from our workforce and therefore it is vital that current and future members of Dorset Police act with honesty and integrity in everything they do. For those who do not, we will act swiftly and robustly.
Our teams have delivered excellent work over recent years and we are keen to further build on this through a programme of work as part of Project Evolve with the common aims of continuing to improve our service by putting the public first, ensuring we spend every penny of public money wisely and making it easier for our officers and staff to do an even better job.
