    A stop or stop and search occurs when someone is asked to account for themselves Questions such as ‘What are you doing?’, ‘Where have you been?’, ‘What are you carrying?’ or ‘Where are you going?’ mean that the officer is asking someone to account for themselves. When this happens the officer must give that person a record of the event. The way in which the stop or stop and search is conducted by a police officer or police community support officer is set out in law and must be followed. Content
