    In September we looked at Preventative and Proactive Policing. In a time of limited resources and further cuts to the Force's annual budget, these areas may not be the first that people see day-to-day, but they are essential to keep the public safe and to tackle crime. Content
  3. Offender Management Unit

    The Integrated Offender Management unit (IOM) is based at Bournemouth Police Station. At any given time, they deal with around 80 of the most prolific acquisitive offenders in Dorset, the majority are, or have been, dwelling burglars or car thieves.. Content
  4. Preventative Policing

    Officers use of a range of tactics to reduce burglaries and the number of victims of crime. These include stepping up patrols in vulnerable/high risk areas and working with neighbour and community groups to spread the crime prevention message. The Force also targets suspected offenders and works in partnership with other agencies. Content
  5. Fatal Five

    The No Excuse approach was launched in 2010 to help reduce the number of casualties on Dorset roads. In addition to highly visible road signs, publicity campaigns, and the work of the Dorset Road Safe safety camera team, a dedicated police officer led enforcement team was introduced in 2014. The team operates at different times and locations every day of the week and is supported by the Special Constabulary. Content

  9. Strategic Alliance

    Dorset Police and Devon & Cornwall Police formally agreed to go into a strategic alliance in March 2015. Being in an alliance means the two forces are working together in over 30 administrative and operational business areas. Content
