Police Support Volunteers
Giving your time to a cause you believe in, in order to help others can be very rewarding and addictive! A little selflessness can go a long way and you might just find you get a lot out of the experience.
When you align your passions with your volunteer work, the most unexciting of tasks can be brought into a whole new light. When you become passionate about the cause is when your work is going to have the biggest impact. Not every volunteer role is “on the frontline”. Without people in the background doing the unglamorous jobs we wouldn’t be able to strengthen our communities, solve problems and improve the lives of others.
To view the unique volunteering roles that we have within the organisations, please check the current vacancy list below. If after visiting the site you feel you have a different set of skills and experience the force could benefit from - which cannot be matched, we will eagerly explore a bespoke volunteering opportunity.
Although you will not be paid a salary, your volunteering role should not leave you out of pocket. You can claim expenses for travelling to and from your place of duty, and meal allowance if you assist for more than four hours together.
If you are an existing Police Support Volunteer or staff member with Dorset and wish to take on an additional volunteer role, please email Vol@dorset.pnn.police.uk in the first instance for an internal application form.
Please note that for certain roles you must be 18 years or older due to the nature of the positions. The positions to which this age limit applies will be clearly marked below. All other roles can be applied by those aged between 16 and 80 years old. For insurance reasons, Dorset Police does not invite volunteer applications from people over the age of 80.
