Dorset Police is looking for a new Deputy Chief Constable to join one of the highest performing police forces in the United Kingdom. Applications are invited from internal and external qualified officers on promotion or officers who wish to transfer to Dorset Police on a level transfer.
Dorset Police covers a hugely diverse geographic area, from the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast to rolling hills inland. Within Dorset we police Bournemouth & Poole, an urban area larger than most British cities, and many towns and villages. In addition, Dorset is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, with millions of visitors coming every year to enjoy the spectacular scenery and sandy beaches. This makes policing in Dorset a unique challenge but one that our staff rise to with courage and pride.
As Deputy Chief Constable of Dorset Police, you will be fully committed to public service and key values, transparency, impartiality, and integrity. You will inspire officers and staff to achieve and drive the vision across the Dorset organisation and the strategic alliance with Devon and Cornwall Police, whilst still delivering on local policing priorities. Working within a fast paced, agile, and future focused executive team, you will be able to make a difference and make Dorset one of the safest counties to live in.
You will require proven leadership skills in challenging elements of operational policing, evidencing work and influence across significant boundaries or experience within regional and national context. You will also require an outstanding track record in successfully improving the full range of police performance on a sustained basis and strong evidence of managing resources efficiently and effectively.
All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements detailed below:
- Have successfully completed the Senior Police National Assessment Centre (SPNAC) and the Strategic Command Course (SCC).
- Overseas applicants must meet the immigration requirements to live and work in the UK
