Between Monday 3 February and Friday 28 February 2025, there is an opportunity for anyone to surrender a Turkish top-venting blank firer gun (modified or not) to a police station enquiry office anonymously.
The amnesty is being held for owners of four types of top-venting blank firearms to be surrendered after tests by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and policing showed they are readily convertible and therefore illegal.
The firearms that have been found to be readily convertible and therefore illegal are the Turkish brands: Retay, Ekol, Ceonic and Blow.
Whilst people will have purchased these believing they were legal for their intended use, they are now no longer to be kept in your possession. Therefore, they should be handed into a police station before Friday 28 February 2025.
Possession of one of the guns after the amnesty ends could result in a prison sentence of 10 years.
You will be invited to provide any information you may feel relevant regarding purchasing or obtaining, but this is not a requirement.
There may be some short notice adjustments to the opening times or dates of the station you wish to attend, so please check via our website or by calling 101 before attending.
