Plane crash in Ahmedabad
The UK is working with local authorities in India to urgently establish the facts and provide support to those involved.
On 14 March 2022, Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Farrell joined Dorset Police.
Her most recent role was as a Chief Superintendent with Hampshire Constabulary, as Commander overseeing Prevention, Vulnerability and Partnerships.
Rachel oversaw the Public Protection Department, led Child Centred Policing, and ensured a consistent and effective approach to harm and vulnerability across the wider constabulary. She also led strategic partnerships across local policing, particularly in respect of safeguarding, harm and vulnerability.
Rachel joined the Police in 1995, and her career to date has given her a broad portfolio of experience. Having spent her career predominantly in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), particularly in major and serious crime, she is an accredited PIP3 – (Professionalising Investigations Programme Level 3) and Level 4 Senior Investigating Officer (4 SIO). She has led in public protection, child abuse, rape and serious sexual offences and intelligence. She has been a district commander in rural and city environments, worked in Contact Management, and completed numerous strategic reviews and project roles.
Rachel is motivated by opportunities to drive improvements in public service, building really effective and innovative partnerships, and protecting vulnerable people, something which has very much influenced the roles she has previously undertaken.
