Chief Financial Officer Neal Butterworth

Neal Butterworth was appointed as Chief Financial Officer in January 2023.

Neal has worked for Dorset Police since 1995, having joined as part of the Accountancy team, before becoming Head of Finance for Dorset in 2008. In 2016, his Head of Finance role expanded to cover Dorset Police and Devon & Cornwall Police under the Alliance.

Prior to working for Dorset Police, Neal’s initial financial experience was gained in private accountancy practice, followed by a period as an accountant in the NHS.

Neal’s portfolio covers all aspects of Finance, Fleet, Procurement and Admin Services. Finance includes payroll, purchasing, payments and income, audit, insurance and pensions, as well as provision of accountancy support to the business, budget setting, financial monitoring, year-end accounts and statutory reporting.

Neal is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and has a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
