Weymouth murder investigation - victim named
Detectives investigating the murder of a man at an address in Weymouth have today named the victim.
Police were called to a flat on Bath Street at around 8am on Sunday 8 November 2015 and discovered the body of a 23-year-old man.
A murder investigation was subsequently launched by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).
Detectives have now named the man as Abdal Rahman Al-Rabia, from the London area and who is originally from Jordan.
A post-mortem examination established that Mr Al-Rabia died from a single stab wound to the chest.
His next of kin, who live in Jordan and Dorset, have been informed and the coroner has been notified.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Mark Samuel, of Dorset Police’s MCIT, said: “We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident to establish the exact circumstances leading to Abdal Rahman’s death.
“His next of kin are being supported by specially-trained officers.
“A cordon is still in place on the Bath Street flat, while officers continue with investigations.
“If anyone has any information that could assist with our investigation, please contact me urgently on 101. All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
