Upton Heath fire - police warning to public

Dorset Police and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service are issuing a warning to members of the public to stay away from Upton Heath as firefighters work to tackle a large blaze in the area.

Officers are asking members of the public not to enter the area surrounding the heath – particularly where the A350 meets the A35 Upton Bypass.

Superintendent Mick Rogers of Dorset Police said: “I would urge anybody to avoid this area.

“The safety of the public is our utmost priority and together with our partner agencies we are ensuring that contingency plans are in place.”

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire at approximately 2pm this afternoon.

Dorset Police, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and the local council are working together to deal with this incident and enquiries are ongoing.
