Update on woman's death in Weymouth
With regard to yesterday’s incident in Weymouth where a woman was found dead within an address along Benville Road the following latest statement has been released.
A local 16-year-old boy is still assisting detectives with their enquiries and a forensic search is still ongoing, with 30 officers involved in the investigation.
A Home Office pathologist is performing a post-mortem on the victim.
Family liaison officers are interacting with the deceased woman’s family. Her identity can not be released at this time as no formal positive identification has taken place yet.
Detective Inspector Marcus Hester, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team, said: “I’m renewing my appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the Benville Road area between 11am on Friday 20 July and 1pm on Saturday 21 July 2012 to contact Dorset Police urgently.
“I want to reassure the public that following our ongoing investigation, it has been established that all parties involved in this incident were known to each other.”
