Update - Murder investigation launched in Weymouth

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body at an address in Weymouth – with four people having been arrested.

At around 8am this morning, Sunday 8 November 2015, police discovered the body of a man in a flat along Bath Street in the town centre.

The circumstances of his death are suspicious and a murder investigation, led by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, is underway.

The victim has not yet been identified, however HM Coroner has been notified.

Two men and one woman also sustained injuries. Their injuries are not life threatening.

Three men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Inspector Neil Devoto, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Following the discovery of a man’s body and a number of injured people, Dorset Police has launched a murder investigation.

“Enquiries are now underway to establish exactly what happened earlier this morning.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the Bath Street area this morning to contact us as soon as possible.

“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

A cordon has been put in place while crime scene investigators examine the property and officers are also carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

Bath Street is currently closed and Commercial Road is closed between Wesley Street and Bath Street.
