Tribute paid to motorcyclist killed in Poole
The family of a 41-year-old man who was killed in a road traffic collision in the Broadstone area of Poole have issued a tribute to the media.
At around 7.50am on Tuesday 22 October 2013, officers were called to a road traffic collision on Gravel Hill close to the traffic light junction with Queen Anne Drive.
Three vehicles were involved – a green MAN articulated goods vehicle, driven by a 44-year-old Southampton man, a white Vauxhall Vivaro van driven by a 41-year-old Poole man and a black and a black Yamaha motorcycle, ridden by a 41-year-old man from Poole.
Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries.
An inquest was opened and adjourned at 3.05pm on Thursday 24 October 2013 at the coroner’s court in Bournemouth. Evidence was heard that 41-year-old Michael William Birt from Bournemouth died at Poole Hospital on Tuesday 22 October 2013. The cause of death is currently unascertained pending toxicology results.
The family of Mr. Birt said: “Michael was a well-loved and popular young family man who had a great zest for life and always thought of other people before himself.
“He was tragically taken away too soon and leaves behind his wife Suzanne, his three children Luke, Josh and Katie and his loving family.
“We all miss him terribly and would like to thank you all for the support and kind words which we have received from all his friends and family. 'Cheers' Michael and have as many 'one more' as you want.....night night and sleep tight.”
