Reece murder investigation - three men charged

Detectives investigating the alleged murder of a man in Bournemouth have charged three men in connection with his death, following the advice of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Three London men, aged 22, 24 and 33, have been charged with the murder of Reece James Menzies and will appear before Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, Saturday 25 August 2012.

21-year-old Reece was found dead at his flat, at the junction of Roumelia Lane and Sea Road in Boscombe, on Wednesday 25 July 2012. He had sustained a gun shot wound at around 2.15am that morning.

The three charged men were arrested in addresses in London and the Folkestone area of Kent during the morning of Tuesday 21 August 2012.

Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “The three men have been in custody for the last 72 hours and they have all been interviewed at length.

“We have presented details of these interviews as well as evidence gathered over the past month to the Crown Prosecution Service, with whom we have worked closely.

“The progression of the investigation to this point today demonstrates the professionalism, commitment and tireless work of Dorset Police staff, with the active support of Operation Trident and Kent police.

“Although I cannot go into any further detail, I continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward and help us with this investigation by calling 101. All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
