Premises closure order in Bournemouth

A premises closure order has been enforced by police at a flat in the Charminster area of Bournemouth following complaints of serious nuisance and disorder.

The closure order on an address in Ascham Road was issued at Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 December 2014 under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

Dorset Police requested the order following complaints from local residents about anti-social behaviour at the address, including persistent noise, parties and intimidation.

The application for the closure order was supported by Bournemouth Borough Council and has been imposed until March 2015. Details of the order have been posted on the front of the flat and anyone found breaching the order will be arrested.

Police Constable Michaela Jephcott, of Charminster and Queens Park Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We have listened to residents’ concerns and taken positive action on their behalf. I now hope all the residents can live peacefully in their homes.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that we will always seek to take action and use police powers where there is evidence of anti-social behaviour, working closely with our partners at Bournemouth Borough Council.

“I would also encourage local residents to report any concerns to Dorset Police in confidence on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Issued: 22 December 2014
