Police investigate suspicious death in Bournemouth

Detectives in Bournemouth are investigating the suspicious death of a man in the town centre.

At 4.52pm today, Tuesday 17 July 2012, police received a report that a man had been seriously attacked at an address along Lansdowne Road in Bournemouth.

Officers attended and the body of a man was discovered. An immediate search of the area took place and a man was subsequently arrested along Beechey Road.

This man continues to help police with their enquiries.

The dead man has not yet been formally identified and next of kin are not yet aware. The Coroner has been notified.

A cordon is in place and Beechey Road is closed between Wimborne Road and Wellington Road while investigators examine the scene.

Detective Inspector Stewart Balmer, of Bournemouth CID , said: “I can confirm that we are treating this death as suspicious.

“I understand that these areas were extremely busy this afternoon and I would urge anyone who witnessed anything unusual or suspicious, who has yet to speak with the police, to call us on 101 immediately.”
