Dorset Police operate the 'no excuse' casualty reduction operation which includes hard-hitting publicity and education and is actively supported by the Dorset Road Safe partners.
The campaign supports the Force’s priority to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on Dorset’s roads.
The message going out loud and clear is that there is ‘no excuse’ for bad or careless driving and riding on Dorset’s roads.
Dorset Police, supported by Dorset Road Safe, conduct additional, sustained, high-visibility enforcement and police led covert operations in order to crack down on the main types of driving behaviour that are known to result in fatal and serious injuries.
The no excuse campaign aims to stop drivers from committing any of the 'fatal four’:
- driving whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- failing to wear a seatbelt
- using a mobile phone/distraction
Organisations that make up the Dorset Road Safe partnership include Dorset Police, Dorset County Council, Borough of Poole, Bournemouth Borough Council, the Highways Agency, Her Majesty’s Courts Service, Crown Prosecution Service,NHS South West, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and LV Streetwise.
