Murder investigation launched in Bournemouth
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man at a flat in Bournemouth – with one another man having been arrested.
At around 2.25am today, Friday 1 January 2016, officers were called to reports of a serious assault at an address in Cleveland Road in the town.
A 25-year-old man from Bournemouth was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and HM Coroner notified.
A second man, aged 46 and also from Bournemouth, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
The circumstances of the man’s death are suspicious and a murder investigation, led by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, is underway.
A 45-year-old man of Poole has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Mark Samuel, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Following the discovery of a man’s body and a second man having been injured, Dorset Police has launched a murder investigation.
"Enquiries are now underway to establish exactly what happened earlier this morning.
“This incident took place inside a flat and the victim and arrested man were known to each other.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Cleveland Road area this morning to contact us as soon as possible.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
A cordon has been put in place at the flat while crime scene investigators examine the scene. Officers are also carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
