Murder investigation in Boscombe - Man named
A man found dead in a flat in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth has today been named by detectives.
At around midday yesterday, Tuesday 26 May 2015, police were called to a flat in Mallard Grange in Sea Road and discovered the body of a 22-year-old man.
The man, who has not been formally identified, is believed by police to be Phillip Nicholson, of Poole.
The circumstances of his death are suspicious and a murder investigation, led by detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, is underway.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being kept updated by specially-trained officers. The coroner has been notified.
A 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman – both from Bournemouth – were arrested at 3.50pm yesterday, Tuesday 26 May 2015, in Weymouth on suspicion of murder and remain helping police with their enquiries.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stewart Balmer, of Dorset Police’s MCIT, said: “We are still building a picture of exactly what happened yesterday and continue to appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Sea Road area of Boscombe yesterday morning to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting Op Fraction.
“We’d also like to speak to anyone who had recent contact with Phillip Nicholson or who may have any information that may support the inquiry.
“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
A cordon remains in place at the address in Sea Road while crime scene investigators carry out a thorough examination of the scene.
Officers have also been carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
