Investigation into death of Poole pensioner - update
Detectives investigating the death of a 94-year-old woman at an address in Poole believe it is not suspicious.
Officers were called to a property on Douglas Close at around 11.06am on Friday 26 June 2015 following reports of the pensioner’s death.
The coroner was notified and the woman’s next of kin have been informed.
The death was initially treated as unexplained and an investigation was launched by detectives from Bournemouth CID.
Detective Inspector Joe Williams said: “Officers were initially investigating whether the woman had been the victim of a theft in the days before she died. A post mortem examination was inconclusive and further testing has been requested.
“Following extensive enquiries carried out on Friday and over the weekend, we have concluded that a theft has not occurred and the 94-year-old woman sadly died peacefully in her sleep overnight Thursday or Friday morning.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank residents in Douglas Close and all the members of public who assisted with our investigation.”
