Follow Student Officers through Training – 2 weeks to go!

The officers have now finished their 19th week of training and only have two weeks left until their passing-out ceremony!

Following their visit to custody last week (see right for some photographs of their custody practicals), this week the student officers visited Bournemouth Crown Court. Here they took part in practical scenarios to gain an insight into what takes place at court and what it’s like giving evidence and being cross-examined.

They also worked on how to prepare reports for court and learned about the role of an officer within the court process.

This stage of training demonstrates how many of the skills an officer utilises can conclude at court, such as ensuring statements have been taken effectively, detailed evidence has been gathered and appropriate arrests and charges have been made, in order to give a strong and accurate case to be prosecuted at court.

This week the officers have also been working hard studying for their final academic exam next week. Good luck!

As they near the end of their training, find out how some more of our officers have found it so far:
