Follow Student Officers through Training – 1 week to go!

Nearly there! The officers have now finished their 20th week of training and have their official passing-out ceremony this week!

Last week the officers had their final academic exam – which all of the students successfully passed!

They also took another visit to Streetwise, an interactive safety education centre which they also visited in week eight of training. Here the officers put the knowledge and skills they have learned over the last 20 weeks into practice within various life-sized scenes, proving just how much they had learned and progressed since week eight.

In addition, the student officers also had a comprehensive input from Dorset Fire and Rescue around fire safety and how their roles as officers can assist the fire service. Representatives from the British Transport Police also visited the students to provide advice on rail safety as local Dorset Police officers are often the first on the scene.

This week, as well as their final fitness test, the officers have some specialised inputs about firearms and explosives, to enhance some of the specific legislation training they have already learned.

Before the officers start work as Dorset Police Officers in your local communities, their final week will conclude the course with their passing-out ceremony.

Good luck and best wishes to all the student officers!
