Dorset police officer convicted of common assault

On Thursday 23 January 2014 at Gloucester Crown Court, Police Constable Pete Lawrence was convicted of common assault, after an incident occurred on Sunday 3 March 2013 while he was off duty. He was sentenced today, Thursday 20 February 2014 at the same court, where he was ordered to serve two hundred hours community service and to pay £1000 costs and £1000 compensation.

Now criminal proceedings have been completed he will now be subject to internal disciplinary procedures.

Police Constable Lawrence has been suspended from duty since the date of the assault.
