Dorset Police declared one of the best organisations to work for

Last night – Thursday 11 March 2010 – Dorset Police won a prestigious national award for being one of the top public sector organisations to work for.

At an awards ceremony held in London the Force were confirmed as one of the top 75 organisations to work for in the public sector across the UK – with over 200 public sector organisations entered in the process.

The Best Companies organisation co-ordinates these awards in conjunction with the Sunday Times and they are open to all organisations.

Graham Smith, Dorset Police’s Director of Human Resources, said: “We are delighted to have been named as one of the top 75 public sector organisations to work for in the UK.

“Dorset Police is a large and complex employer that works in a challenging front line environment, so to have received this award is a great achievement.”

The award was judged on the basis of results from a survey sent randomly to over 1,400 members of Dorset Police staff and so it truly reflects views held within the organisation.

The survey included questions to assess employees’ opinions on areas including leadership, personal growth, wellbeing, pay and benefits.

Graham Smith continued: “I’d like to thank not only those who took part in the survey, but every member of staff within the organisation. It is only by working together, supporting each other and living the values of Dorset Police that we have been able to obtain this significant national recognition.”
