Alleged assault in Weymouth - witness appeal

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an alleged assault in Weymouth town centre – with one man being arrested.
It was reported that at around 3.15am yesterday, Tuesday 22 March 2016, a man left Actors nightclub and was walking along St Mary Street when an altercation occurred.
It is alleged the victim – a 25-year-old local man – was punched in the face and kicked.
He sustained a broken ankle and bruising and swelling to his head and face.
Detective Constable Sarah Desmond, of Weymouth CID, said: “I know there were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident and I would urge anyone who saw anything to please call me on 101.”
A 23-year-old Weymouth man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until mid-May 2016.
