Spate of commercial burglaries in Bournemouth – witness appeal

Officers are investigating a spate of commercial burglaries in Bournemouth and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received reports of six burglaries to hairdressers between Friday 8 April 2016 and Thursday 30 June 2016.

The first incident occurred at 12.07am on Friday 8 April 2016. A large glass panel in the front door was smashed and money was taken from the till at the Hair Stop in Wimborne Road, Winton.

At around 4.30am the same day offenders forced their way into Annie’s Saloon in Wimborne Road. No items were stolen.

The third incident took place at approximately 1am on Friday 22 April 2016. Entry was gained to Castle Lane Barber Shop on Castle Lane West in Winton. Money was stolen from the till and a significant amount of damage was caused to the shop front window.

A till was stolen from GKB Barbers in Winton at around 1.48am on Tuesday 26 April 2016. Offenders created a small hole into the window in order to gain entry.

At around 1am on Monday 27 June 2016 Dorset Police received reports of an attempted break-in at Mirage Hair & Beauty Salon in Wimborne Road, Winton. The attempted entry was via a front shop window, with items of value visible from the outside.

The final incident occurred at around 4.44am on Thursday 30 June 2016 when offenders attempted to gain entry to The Hair Stop Salon in Wimborne Road, Winton. Nothing was stolen from the property but damage was caused to the front door.

No arrests have been made in relation to these incidents.

Police Constable Gareth Belsey, of Bournemouth Police, said: “We believe these incidents are linked and I am appealing to anyone who may have information or knows who is responsible to please contact me.

“I would ask that the public remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to police.”
