Appeal after assault in Poole

Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to find a man responsible for assault on an elderly woman in Poole.

The incident happened at around 2pm yesterday, Tuesday 28 June 2016, as a woman aged in her 90s was walking through the Old Town area.

As she walked into Levet's Lane a man grabbed her round the shoulders from behind before running away toward St James’ Church in Church Street.

The victim was shaken but was not physically injured.

The offender is described as approximately five feet eight inches tall, of slim build and was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Nicky McGhee, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw the incident or a man matching the description given in the Old Town area of Poole yesterday afternoon to please contact me.

“Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area to reassure the community.”
