Update – men charged in connection with alleged serious assault in Poole

Two men have been charged and are due to appear in court in connection with an alleged serious assault in Poole.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.37pm on Monday 10 February 2020 that a man had sustained a stab wound during an altercation at Sainsbury’s in Pitwines Close. 

The victim – aged in his 50s – was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment. He remains in intensive care in hospital and his condition is described as serious but no longer life-threatening.

Following enquiries by detectives, two men aged 21 and 22 and both of no fixed abode, were arrested in connection with the incident. They have now been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and other offences and are due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 14 February 2020.

A 20-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remains released under investigation.

Detectives Sergeant Garry Knight, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and we would like to thank members of the public who have provided information so far.

“We would repeat our plea for anyone with information who has not already spoken to police to please get in touch.”
