Update in relation to reported serious assault in Bournemouth

A man arrested in connection with an alleged serious assault in Bournemouth town centre will face no further police action.

It was reported that at around 5am on Saturday 28 December 2019 an altercation occurred involving a group of people on Lorne Park Road at the junction with Old Christchurch Road. During the incident, a man – aged in his 20s – sustained stab wounds to his back.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A 20-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. 

However, following further enquiries he has been released from the investigation and will face no further police action.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
