Detectives investigating an alleged serious assault in Bournemouth are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
At 8.50pm on Saturday 25 January 2020 Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service that a man had been found with serious injuries in a doorway near to Bar 7 in Christchurch Road in Boscombe. It was reported that the man had been involved in an altercation inside the bar at around 7.30pm and was subsequently assaulted outside the premises.
The injured man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are believed to be potentially life-threatening.
Following enquiries, a 56-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and he is assisting detectives with their investigation.
Detective Constable Ben Swain, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
“I understand there were a number of people in the area at the time and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the alleged assault outside Bar 7 as well as anyone who saw the injured man in the doorway or how he came to be there between around 7.30pm and 8.40pm on Saturday 25 January.”
