Update in relation to reported robbery in Bournemouth

A man has been interviewed by officers in relation to a reported robbery near a cash machine in Bournemouth.

The incident occurred at around 9am on Friday 20 September 2019 in Stamford Road in the Southbourne area.

It was reported that the victim – a local man aged in his 70s – withdrew £400 from the Lloyds bank cash machine on Southbourne Grove and following the transaction was asked by an unknown man for some change, which his refused.

The victim was then allegedly assaulted in nearby Stamford Road and the cash was stolen from his pocket.

Following a CCTV appeal to identify a man detectives were looking to identify as part of their investigation, a 21-year-old man from the Ringwood area has come forward and has attended a police interview. He is assisting with enquiries. No arrests have been made.
