Update in serious incident in Gillingham

Officers investigating an incident in Gillingham have now released further information in relation to it.

At 4.26am on Thursday 9 June 2016 police had been called to reports of a man with serious injuries at an address in Newbury in the town.

Officers and the ambulance service attended the address and the man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Yeovil Hospital with a shoulder injury.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Little, of Dorset Police, said: “Following a thorough investigation a local man was arrested, but was de-arrested shortly after as we received additional information about the incident.

“Enquiries are still ongoing to establish how the man sustained his injury.

“There will be an increased police presence in Gillingham as local officers offer reassurance to the community, should they have any concerns.”
