Detectives are carrying out an investigation into the death of a woman in Wareham.
At 2.59pm on Wednesday 29 May 2019 Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service of the unexpected death of a woman aged in her 50s at an address in West Walls. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially-trained officers.
An investigation has been launched into the death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
Following enquiries, a 23-year-old man from Wareham has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is assisting detectives with their enquiries.
The victim and arrested man were known to each other.
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Dorset Police, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the death and an examination of the scene is taking place.
“I am appealing to anyone with information about this incident, or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the West Walls area on Tuesday 28 May or Wednesday 29 May 2019, to please contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area as this investigation continues. Local officers can be approached by members of the community with any concerns.”
