Witness appeal following alleged assault at Poole bar

Detectives investigating an alleged assault at a bar in Poole are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police were called at around 2am on Saturday 18 May 2019 to Le Bateau on Commercial Road following reports a fight had broken out between two men, who are believed to have been known to each other.

One man sustained a head injury and a second man, aged in his 30s, received cuts to his head and face and is due to undergo surgery.

A 28-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Matt Manners, of Bournemouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to this incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the bar and witnessed what occurred to please contact Dorset Police.”
