Witness appeal following reported assault in Purbeck

Detectives investigating reports that a woman was assaulted with a glass bottle in Purbeck are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.34pm on Sunday 21 April 2019 that a woman aged in her 20s had been struck by another woman with a glass wine bottle at the site of an unauthorised gathering at Wytch in Corfe Castle, near Wareham.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a broken hand and laceration to her face.

A 21-year-old woman from Gloucestershire was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and is assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Simon Austin, of Weymouth CID, said: “We are carrying out an investigation into this incident and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed it to please contact us.”
