Appeal following reported serious assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating a reported serious assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Dorset Police was called at 5.20pm today, Monday 15 April 2019, to reports of an assault in St Peter’s Road in the town.

Officers attended and discovered one man aged in his 50s had sustained a serious head injury. He was flown by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. His injuries are described as life-threatening. His next of kin are yet to be informed.

A section of St Peter’s Road has been cordoned off while an examination of the scene takes place. Officers are also in the area conducting enquiries.

Three men aged 23, 25 and 47 and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and are assisting officers with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Steve May, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This incident happened at a busy time of the day and I would urge anyone who was in St Peter’s Road at the relevant time and saw or heard anything suspicious to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also ask anyone who was travelling along this road and has dashcam fitted to please check their footage to see if they have anything that may be relevant to my investigation.”
