Update - further arrests in connection with reported stabbing on Weymouth seafront

Two further people have been arrested as part of an investigation into a reported stabbing in Weymouth.

The incident occurred at 10.45pm on Friday 16 November 2018, on The Esplanade near to the King’s Statue.

The victim, a man aged in his 30s, reported he had been involved in an altercation with two men and a woman and had sustained a stab wound to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury.

A 21-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent the following day and was released under investigation.

Following enquiries by detectives, a 21-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 19-year-old Weymouth woman have now also been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

The man has been released under investigation and the woman was charged with the offence and appeared before Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 9 January 2019. She will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 7 February 2019.
