Witness appeal following serious injury collision in Poole

Officers investigating a serious injury road traffic collision in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The collision involving a grey Toyota Yaris and a pedestrian occurred at the junction of Lake Road and Upwey Avenue in Hamworthy at around 4.35pm on Tuesday 20 November 2018.

The pedestrian, a Poole woman aged in her 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury. Her family has been informed.

The driver of the Toyota, also a local woman aged in her 70s, was checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not require any hospital treatment.

Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident.

Police Constable Jay Griffin, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances of this collision and I am appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the collision who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to check their footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
