Three men who burgled the home of a vulnerable elderly man have been jailed.
Glen Mallen, 25 and of no fixed abode, Martin Mongan, 27 and of no fixed abode and Ryan O’Reilly, 28 and of Burton Road in Christchurch, pleaded guilty to burglary and were sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Wednesday 7 November 2018.
Mallen was sentenced to 34 months in prison, Mongan was handed a 30-month prison term and O'Reilly was jailed for 18 months.
The incident happened at a property on Organford Road in Holton Heath on Wednesday 29 August 2018.
At around 9.30am, the victim - aged in his 80s - was collected from his address to attend a day centre. Upon his return later that afternoon he found that his house had been broken into and a messy search had been carried out.
The offenders stole CCTV cameras from inside the property before leaving. Due to the victim being vulnerable, it is not known if anything else was taken.
The defendants were identified following a review of the house's CCTV as being Mallen, Mongan and O'Reilly by Detective Constable Michelle Lawrence.
DC Lawrence, of Bournemouth CID, said: "This was obviously an incredibly distressing incident for the victim and his family. A detailed investigation took place, leading to us arresting the individuals involved and bringing them before the courts.
