Update – man charged in connection with reported serious assault and criminal damage in Poole

A man has been charged in connection with a reported serious assault and criminal damage incident in Poole.

At 10.06pm on Wednesday 4 April 2018 Dorset Police received a report of a man banging on the door of an address in Dale Close. It was reported that the man used a hammer to cause damage to a number of vehicles in the area and also to windows of properties in the street.

It is alleged that, when officers arrived at the scene, the man attempted to seriously assault a female police officer. She sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A 35-year-old man, of Bournemouth, was arrested and subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act. He has now been released from treatment and has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage, possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 2 November 2018.
