Witness appeal following road traffic collision in Poole

Officers investigating a serious injury road traffic collision in Poole are issuing an appeal for witnesses.

The collision occurred at around 9.55pm yesterday, Thursday 14 June 2018, at the junction of Wimborne Road and Dorchester Road. It involved a silver Renault Megane Scenic and a red Piaggio moped.

The moped rider, a man aged in his 20s, suffered potentially life-changing injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.

An 18-year-old man from Devon was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation.

Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this collision and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who has dashcam fitted to their vehicle and was in the area around the time of the collision to check their footage to see if they have captured the incident.”
