Serious road traffic collision in Weymouth

Officers are dealing with a serious injury road traffic collision in Weymouth and are asking motorists to avoid the affected area.

Dorset Police received a call about the incident from the ambulance service at 8.46pm today, Monday 18 April 2016.

The collision happened near the ASDA store on Newstead Road and involved a pedestrian and a red Mazda 3 TS2.

The male pedestrian has been airlifted from the scene with potentially serious head injuries.

The road has been closed at the traffic light junction outside the ASDA store and Westway Road has been closed at the traffic lights with Swannery Bridge. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Dorset Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the road closure which is necessary to enable the emergency services to deal with the incident.
