Appeal for witnesses after serious assault in Christchurch

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Christchurch area appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Shortly before 10.15pm yesterday, Thursday 1 March 2018, Dorset Police received a report of an altercation involving four men in Barrack Road, near to the junction with Elizabeth Avenue.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s from Bournemouth, sustained slash wounds - believed to have been caused by a knife - to his face, arm and finger. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not life-threatening.

Detective Constable Jo Poultney, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are still trying to establish exactly what happened and have been carrying out a number of enquiries, including house-to-house and the availability of any CCTV footage in the area.

“I am appealing to any members of the public who witnessed this incident or who have any information that can assist our investigation to contact police.”
