Appeal for witnesses following road traffic collision in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a road traffic collision in Weymouth.

At 10.50am today, Thursday 28 December 2017, Dorset Police was called to reports of a collision on Avenue Road near to the junction with Walpole Street involving a black Audi A3 and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a 55-year-old Weymouth man, sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment. 

A 45-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation.

Police Constable Sean Ford, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the driving of either the car or the cyclist immediately prior to the incident to please contact Dorset Police. 

“I would also like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage that would assist with my investigation.”
