Witness appeal following alleged assault on bus driver in Sherborne

Detectives investigating an alleged assault on a bus driver in Sherborne are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

At 8.37am on Thursday 12 October 2017 Dorset Police was called about the incident on the A30, which involved a Nippy Bus double-decker school bus and a black BMW 1 Series.

It was reported that the driver of the car came out of his vehicle and entered the bus before hitting the victim.

The bus driver sustained facial injuries and a wound to his arm and was taken to hospital.

Detective Constable Rhys Griffiths, of Western CID, said: “I would like to reassure the public that none of the school children on the bus were physically affected by the incident and we have made a number of enquiries today to establish what exactly happened.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident, or anyone who witnessed the driving of either vehicle prior to the incident, to come forward and contact police.”

A 24-year-old man from the Yeovil area has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is assisting offers with their enquiries.
