Witness appeal following road traffic collision near Dorchester

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision near Dorchester to come forward.

At around 5.20pm on Saturday 9 September 2017 a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a black Yamaha motorcycle were involved in a collision on westbound carriageway of the A35 Puddletown bypass.

The ambulance service attended and the riders of the motorcycles – a 53-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman both from Weymouth – were taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.

Detective Constable Declan Cummings, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision who has not already spoken to police to please contact me.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone with information in relation to the manner of riding of either motorcycle immediately prior to the collision.”

A 53-year-old Weymouth man has been charged with dangerous driving and appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 September 2017. He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 12 October 2017.
