Witness appeal following serious road traffic collision in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

The collision involving a female pedestrian and a car happened at around 6.30pm yesterday, Thursday 20 April 2017, on Belle Vue Road in Southbourne.

The pedestrian, a Bournemouth woman in her 70s, was seriously injured as a result of the incident and remains in hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.

The car involved was a blue Ford Focus Zetec.

Road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident and has not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience whilst the road closures were in place to allow the emergency services to do their work.”
