Fatal collision in Ferndown - witness appeal

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Ferndown.

The incident happened at 2.35pm today, Saturday 28 January 2017, on Victoria Road near to the junction with Westwood Avenue.

A white Renault Clio being driven by a 23-year-old Ferndown woman was in collision with a white Kawasaki motorcycle ridden by a 67-year-old Wimborne man.

The motorcyclist was treated by officers and paramedics at the scene and air ambulance was requested, but he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the Clio was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to allow investigators to examine the scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

Police Sergeant Joe Pardey, of the Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “Despite the best efforts of paramedics and officers the motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“I am appealing for any witnesses who saw the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the incident to contact police.”

The next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.
