UPDATE: Man charged following reported distraction burglary in Poole

A man has been charged in connection with a reported distraction burglary in Poole.

Officers were called to reports that at around 1.30pm on Wednesday 21 December 2016 a man knocked on the door of an address in Heath Avenue claiming that he was from the council and needed to check the outside fence for maintenance. The elderly occupant went in to her garden to look at the fence.

During this time, it is alleged woman’s handbag was stolen from inside the house.

A 26-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of dwelling burglary and theft and appeared before Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 January 2017. He is next due to appear before Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 2 February 2017. 

The alleged second offence relates to a reported distraction burglary in Kingsmill Road in Poole on Tuesday 27 December 2016.
